World's first: Yellow River Three Gorges Bridge passes final load test

00:30

The world's first single-tower, ground-anchored rotating-cable suspension bridge – the Yellow River Three Gorges Bridge –completed its final load-test data collection on December 5, marking a major milestone for the Jiyuan-Xin'an Expressway in central China's Henan Province. The bridge has passed all inspections, paving the way for the expressway's final phase and expected full opening by the end of December. Once the bridge opens to traffic, travel time between the two banks of the Yellow River will be reduced from two hours to just 20 minutes.
