The "Jiutian" drone, a large unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), successfully completed its maiden flight in Pucheng, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, on December 11, according to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

Measuring 16.35 meters in length and 25 meters in wingspan, the drone has a maximum takeoff weight of 16 tonnes and a payload capacity of 6,000 kilograms. It can fly for up to 12 hours with a range of 7,000 kilometers.

Driven by advanced technology, the drone offers high payload capacity, high service ceiling, wide speed range, and short takeoff/landing capabilities. It's designed for diverse civilian applications, including transporting heavy supplies, delivering logistics to remote areas, and supporting emergency rescue efforts.
