A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Friday said the Chinese side hopes the international community can be clear-eyed and not be deceived by the Japanese side, and Japan's allies in particular need to see through the Japanese side's schemes and avoid being misled by it.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks when asked to comment on the phone conversation between Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and his U.S. counterpart Pete Hegseth, with both sides sharing so-called serious concern over the recent "radar illumination" incident.
"We've responded to this issue more than once," Guo said, adding that the facts are very clear. The Japanese side's wishful, contradictory and self-deceiving remarks lay bare its real intention of creating tensions and spreading disinformation, he said.
"We urge the Japanese side to face up to the crux of the current difficulties in China-Japan relations, earnestly reflect on and correct its wrongdoing, and retract Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan, rather than diverting attention and creating more troubles," Guo added.
