"The massacre in Nanjing is a horrendous crime committed by Japanese militarists. There is no room for denial. The slaughter of 300,000 Chinese people forms the darkest page in human history," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press briefing on Friday.

Guo made the remarks in response to a media query about the national memorial ceremony for the victims of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. He emphasized that this year marks the 88th anniversary of the tragedy, and in line with national legislation, China will hold a memorial ceremony as usual. He reiterated China's unwavering position, stating it will "never allow" the resurgence of Japanese militarism, foreign interference in China's Taiwan region, or attempts to “turn back the wheel of history.”
