A magnitude-6.7 earthquake struck off the east coast of Japan on Friday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The epicenter was recorded at a depth of 114 kilometers, the CENC said.
The Japanese government issued an emergency earthquake warning for Aomori, Hokkaido and Iwate prefectures, while the Japan Meteorological Agency issued an advisory for a possible tsunami of up to 1 meter.
