The WTT (World Table Tennis) Finals in Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region) served up familiar faces and familiar margins on Thursday, as China's paddlers cleared paths into the women's and men's singles quarterfinals.
World No. 1 Sun Yingsha made short work of compatriot Wang Yidi, running out a 11-3, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 victor. She will face Japan's Miyu Nagasaki in the last eight on Friday.
In the men's draw, 20‑year‑old Lin Shidong also advanced in convincing fashion. The World No. 2 swept past Liang Jingkun 15-13, 11-3, 11-4, 11-9 to book his place in the quarterfinals.
China's Xiang Peng and Kuai Man joined them in the last eight, dispatching the Republic of Korea's An Jae‑hyun and Japan's Hina Hayata, respectively.
In mixed doubles, Wang Chuqin and Sun teamed up to beat compatriots Lin and Kuai 13-11, 12-10, 11-6, while Hong Kong SAR's Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem battled through a five‑set thriller to edge India's Manush Shah and Diya Chitale 11-7, 11-3, 4-11, 10-12, 11-4.
