As temperatures drop across China, spectacular "floating ice" scenes have appeared along sections of the Yellow River in Gansu and Shanxi provinces. In Maqu County, Gansu Province, thin rings of ice shimmer in the sunlight, drifting over jade-like waters like scattered glass. Similar sights can be seen in Shanxi's Baode County, where large shards of ice glide downstream, turning the river into a moving winter gallery.
