The 2025 International Energy Executive Forum was held in Beijing from December 11 to 12. During the forum, CGTN spoke with experts on energy cooperation among countries in the Global South.

Peter Mwangi Kagwanja, president and chief executive of the Africa Policy Institute in Kenya, said that despite Africa's abundant resources, the continent still faces a serious energy access gap, while emerging as a key frontier in the global shift towards renewable energy.

Zhou Yongmei, director of global partnerships at the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development, Peking University, noted that the Global South is both a major energy resource holder and a growing source of demand, and that China's renewable energy capabilities can help provide affordable solutions.
