The 12th China's National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims was observed on Saturday to honor the 300,000 victims killed by Japanese troops during the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Wang Sung-bo, a Taiwan compatriot living in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is a descendant of a veteran from the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Wang, who also once served in the military, shared the stories of his parents and his own insights in a short video. He said that at a time when one can enjoy the peace and prosperity of the present, one must never forget the ancestors who sacrificed their lives for future generations. He continued, "The prosperity and strength of our country today was forged by countless great generations before us. In our lives of peace and comfort, we must never forget who made it possible."
