China's National Memorial Day was observed in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province on December 13 to honor about 300,000 victims killed by Japanese troops during the Nanjing Massacre, in a year that also marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Since 2014, the national flag has been flown at half-mast at the main venue of the Nanjing Massacre National Memorial Day ceremony on December 13 each year.
Across the city, similar events were held to pay tribute to the victims, including flower tributes and other acts of remembrance.
Residents gathered at Zhengjue Temple beside the historic city wall to hold solemn ceremonies.
