Six teenagers were injured in a shooting outside a party venue in Brooklyn, New York, in the early hours of Sunday, according to police.
The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. local time following a birthday party at an event space in the Cypress Hills neighborhood, New York City police said. The victims, aged between 15 and 17, were taken to area hospitals and are all reported to be in stable condition.
At a press conference, New York Police Department commissioner Jessica Tisch said surveillance footage showed two unidentified men approaching the venue before opening fire on the crowd.
"Both individuals displayed firearms and discharged multiple rounds toward a crowd gathered outside the venue," Tisch said. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.
While the exact motive remains under investigation, Tisch said the shooting appears to be gang-related.
Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
