A full-scale rehearsal for the closing ceremony of China’s 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, on December 13. /CMG
China's 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games concluded on Monday in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.
State Councilor Shen Yiqin announced the closing of the Games.
This was the first time the two Games were co-hosted by the three regions of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It was also the second time both Games occurred in the same city and year as the National Games.
Held from December 8 to 15, the Games featured 46 sports and 7,824 athletes from 34 delegations. During the event, 15 world records and 156 national records were broken.
Chang Zheng, deputy director of the organizing committee, stated that the Games have showcased China's achievements in sports for people with disabilities and have laid a strong foundation for the country's participation in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games and the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.
Hunan Province will host China's 13th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 10th National Special Olympics in 2029.
