Full version of Taiwan epic 'Seediq Bale' now in Chinese mainland cinemas

01:03

The full version of "Seediq Bale," a Taiwan epic on resistance against Japanese colonial rule, has hit Chinese mainland screens for the first time, over a decade after its original release. Part One opened on December 12, followed by Part Two on December 13, the National Memorial Day for the Nanjing Massacre Victims. The film portrays the 1930 Wushe Incident in Taiwan. The people of the Seediq tribe, led by the leader Mona Rudao, rose up in a final, defiant revolt against the Japanese colonial rulers. Two young people from Taiwan, now living in Shanghai, shared their reflections about the film.
