China is ready to work with Jordan to strengthen communication and cooperation, implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and plan and develop the China-Jordan strategic partnership over the next decade, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Amman.

Under the King's leadership, Jordan, acting as a stabilizing force in the Middle East, has upheld principles and fairness in promoting regional peace, playing a unique and positive role, Wang said.

China will always stand with the Global South and small and medium-sized countries, firmly protect the shared interests of developing nations, and will remain Jordan's most trustworthy strategic partner in its development and revitalization, he said.

Abdullah II said Jordan attaches great importance to developing ties with China and looks forward to further strengthening high-level exchanges, boosting practical cooperation, improving communication and coordination on international and regional issues, and working together to address the current turbulent global situation, especially in the Middle East.

The two sides also shared detailed views on the situation in the Middle East.
