Film critics and moviegoers are in agreement that the film's most significant allure lies in the return of the original cast, including actress Joyce Tang, Sonija Kwok, and Jessica Suen Huen, who once captivated audiences with their performances, are back on board. Recently, Suen shared her delightful surprise online after she stumbled upon old photos of her role in the TV drama "Back to the Past" while tidying up at home, further fueling the nostalgia surrounding the project.

Louis Koo, who reprises his iconic role as Xiang Shaolong, a modern-day soldier who travels back to the Qin Dynasty (221BC-207BC), now also serves as the film's producer and successfully rallied his former co-stars for this nostalgic reunion, making it a truly special endeavor.

According to a "Sohu.com" report, to ensure that the film lives up to the legacy of the original TV series, Koo made substantial investments in its production. Massive physical sets were constructed to recreate the grandeur of ancient China. The project faced delays during filming in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Adding a new dimension to the story, Kevin Chu joins the cast as Xiang Yu, a key figure in the Qin Dynasty. Koo emphasized that the film remains faithful to the spirit of the original novel by renowned author Huang Yi while incorporating innovative elements. "We aim to pay homage to the past while also creating something fresh and engaging for today's audience," he stated, highlighting the delicate balance between nostalgia and innovation.

Will Xiang Shaolong's journey through time once again redefine history? The answer awaits on December 31, 2025.
