Lush greenery spills into tropical courtyards where boutique homestays blend seamlessly with nature, inviting visitors to slow down and linger, leveraging its unique natural landscapes, rich folk traditions, and favorable geographic location. South China's Hainan Province has made strong efforts to develop rural tourism, injecting fresh vitality into rural revitalization. At rural markets, freshly harvested coffee beans, handwoven Li brocade, and other local products come together, reflecting a vibrant mix of agriculture, culture, and tourism.

In recent years, Hainan has placed strong emphasis on rural tourism development, rolling out a range of supportive policies to create a favorable environment for rural revitalization. The province has launched a three-year action plan to promote the high-quality development of its tourism industry, aiming to welcome 110 million tourists by 2026.

According to the action plan covering 2024 to 2026, total tourist arrivals, including 1.25 million inbound visitors, are expected to generate 245 billion yuan (about $34.5 billion) in tourism revenue, with the added value of the tourism sector projected to exceed 12 percent of the province's GDP.
