"Beyond the Mirror: Italian Contemporary Art Exhibition" opened at Beijing's Guardian Art Center on December 16, offering a cross-temporal dialogue that explores the themes of nature, humanity, history, and daily life through profound forms of Italian artistic expression.
Running through March 10, 2026, the exhibition brings together 65 pieces and sets of work by 13 prominent Italian contemporary artists. Drawing on their distinctive perspectives and artistic practices, these creators explore a wide array of themes. Some capture the ever-changing urban landscapes, some delve into profound reflections on natural philosophy, while others push the boundaries between light, shadow and physical materials. Together, their works weave a diverse, vivid and thought-provoking tapestry of Italian contemporary art.
To mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy, this exhibition serves as a vital platform for artistic exchanges between the two countries, fostering in-depth dialogue on contemporary painting across borders.
