China expresses resolute opposition to U.S. interference in Taiwan affairs

A Chinese spokesperson on Friday voiced strong dissatisfaction with and resolute opposition to the U.S. attempt to further "arm Taiwan" and interfere in China's internal affairs.

Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks in response to a media inquiry regarding the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026, which includes a $1 billion budget on "security cooperation" with Taiwan.

He noted that by inserting Taiwan-related erroneous content into the Act, the U.S. has sent a gravely wrong signal to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.

The spokesperson urged the U.S. to abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-U.S. joint communiques, refrain from enforcing the Taiwan-related provisions of the Act, eliminate its adverse effects and handle the Taiwan question with the utmost prudence.

He also warned Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities that no matter how hard they cling to the U.S. to seek secession, they can never change the fact that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China or alter the inevitable failure of separatist forces, nor can they hold back the irresistible historical trend of China's national reunification.
