Turpan Museum in Xinjiang digitalizes 2,000 relics in 3D

The Turpan Museum in Xinjiang has started digitalizing 2,000 cultural relics in 3D, including pottery and documents, using high-resolution cameras and AI. Over a period of three months, 360 images of each artifact will be taken to create precise 0.15mm models, capturing their shapes and materials. One museum researcher noted the project will provide a digital platform for education. And the digitalized resources will enable virtual tours and support cultural programs. With over 20,000 relics spanning 35 categories, the Turpan Museum plays a vital role in showcasing China's rich heritage. This initiative marks a significant step in integrating technology with cultural preservation.
