The Guangdong Southern Tigers eked out a 97–94 victory over city rivals the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the CBA on Friday, with five Tigers finishing in double figures as Guangdong's collective scoring ultimately outweighed Guangzhou's reliance on Lindell Wigginton's individual brilliance.
Wigginton led all scorers with 25 points, but Xu Jie and Jared Sullinger chipped in 17 apiece for Guangdong. The record 11-time champions pulled clear in the fourth quarter, building a 10‑point cushion. A late Shao Weiyun corner three for Guangzhou made for a nervy finish but not a turnaround.
The Shanghai Sharks leaned on their balanced attack in a 101–89 win over the Jiangsu Dragons. Brandon Goodwin paced the Sharks with 25 points, and five Shanghai players reached double figures en route to a polished team victory.
Jiangsu's rookie Pang Zhenglin continued to announce himself with a game‑high 32 points in only his third CBA appearance but the Dragons still slipped to their third straight defeat.
