A pair of great grey owls, a nationally protected Class II species, were filmed perching and hunting together in a primeval forest of northern China. The footage highlights how ecological conservation efforts in the Greater Khingan Range are keeping these ancient ecosystems healthy and vibrant. The elusive birds, identifiable by their distinctive facial patterns and yellow eyes, mainly inhabit old-growth coniferous forests and are found in China only in the Greater Khingan Mountains in Inner Mongolia and nearby areas.
