Construction of the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge has reached a major milestone with the installation of the first steel box girder on the Xiamen section on Saturday in Fujian Province, SE China. The installed steel box girder measures 142.5 meters in length, 44 meters in width, and 4.5 meters in height, weighing a total of 4,586 tonnes.

An intelligent monitoring system was used throughout the six-hour lifting operation, ensuring real-time control and accurate placement. Once open to traffic, the bridge will enhance connectivity between Xiamen and Kinmen, support the supply of water, electricity and gas, and promote local economic growth and living standards.
