The world's first methanol dual-fuel powered smart ultra-large crude carrier, independently designed and built in China, was delivered in the port city of Dalian in the northeastern Liaoning Province on December 22, 2025.
The 333-meter-long and 60-meter-wide vessel can carry approximately 2.1 million barrels of crude oil. Equipped with domestically developed methanol dual-fuel engines and intelligent ship systems, the tanker can slash carbon dioxide emissions by up to 92 percent and sulfur oxide emissions by 99 percent compared to conventional fuel use.
