As 2025 drew to a close, a grand ceremony that brought together users, developers, ecosystem partners, and public figures took place in Shenzhen. The event celebrated the growth of the HarmonyOS ecosystem and the latest achievements in technological innovation.
Hosted by China Media Group on December 20, the gathering put the spotlight on HarmonyOS, Huawei's all-scenario distributed operating system designed for our increasingly interconnected world. Built to support a wide range of devices – including smartphones, tablets, wearables, and smart displays – it provides a unified platform offering one-stop services for both application and device development.
That sense of progress was rooted in years of steady development. On October 22, 2024, HarmonyOS 5 was officially released. It marked the launch of China’s first fully self-developed operating system built across the technology stack, representing a breakthrough in key technological areas.
A year later, the special release of HarmonyOS 6 introduced major upgrades at both the system and ecosystem levels. The momentum continued on November 25, when Huawei’s annual flagship Mate 80 series made its debut. Powered by HarmonyOS 6, the device marked a new stage in which the ecosystem began moving toward greater maturity.
HarmonyOS had grown into a rapidly evolving ecosystem shaped by many contributors. Developers, business partners, and a growing number of participants helped keep it moving forward. Together, their efforts turned HarmonyOS into an open and increasingly dynamic digital environment.
Against this backdrop, the ceremony was more than a celebration of technology. It also offered a moment to recognize the many contributors behind the ecosystem’s growth.
