The Baotou-Yinchuan high-speed railway has begun full line operation after the opening of its Baotou-Huinong section in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region's Baotou City. The 519-kilometer line is designed for trains running at speeds of 250 km per hour, halving travel times. The railway forms part of development plans for the Yellow River basin and western China.
