Former HKSAR chief prosecutor: Hong Kong judiciary remains professional, independent

03:55

Former chief prosecutor of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Grenville Cross, said Hong Kong's judiciary remains professional and independent, even in politically sensitive national security cases.

He said judges have continued to decide cases solely on evidence despite facing social pressure, security threats and foreign political criticism, adding that defendants in national security cases enjoy the same fair-trial guarantees as in ordinary criminal proceedings.
