Former chief prosecutor of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Grenville Cross, rejected claims that Hong Kong's national security law is incompatible with the common law system.
He said national security legislation exists across common law jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, and that Hong Kong's legal framework closely follows international practice, with no procedural differences between national security trials and other criminal cases.
