China's public service system continued to expand during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), with healthcare coverage remaining a central pillar. Official data show that basic medical insurance now reaches nearly the entire population, providing broad access to essential healthcare services.
Basic medical insurance covered 1.33 billion people in 2024, maintaining a coverage rate of around 95 percent nationwide since 2018.
