The Phygital Games of Future 2025 concluded in the UAE's Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Phygital sports combine the physical and digital versions of games. Players would first compete in e-sports, then a physical version, creating a whole new experience.
Currently, there are four major phygital games: Football, basketball, boxing and dance.
Wu Zhengmao, a player from China's Guangzhou Red Moon FC, said phygital games have completely shattered his traditional view of football. The stimulation to the brain from phygital games are different from traditional football. It's a new play mode for the participants, and a challenge to their football careers.
For those who may want to enter the field professionally, the team captain of Red Moon said one needs excellent e-sports skills, on par with world-leading teams. And his or her football skills and futsal strategies should also be strong.
For those who are not a fan of traditional sports, there is also another option. HADO is a sport that lets players strap on head-mounted displays and armband sensors to wield energy balls and shields on a real-world court, allowing players to combine physical dexterity with technology.
For the audience, they can enjoy the thrill of watching both e-sports and traditional ones from one seat, while doubling their fun.
