A magnitude-5.8 earthquake hit Taitung County in China's Taiwan region on Wednesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter of the quake, which jolted the eastern part of the island at 5:47 p.m., was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the CENC.
