Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr beat Iraq's Al Zawraa 5-1 at home in Riyadh to advance to the knockout phase in AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Champions League Two on Wednesday, after compiling a perfect record in Group D.
After sitting out Al Nassr's first five continental matches, Cristiano Ronaldo finally suited up, but his teammate Kingsley Coman took center stage. The French winger swept in the opener in the 12th minute after a perfectly-placed pass from Angelo Gomes.
Seven minutes later, the Saudi club doubled their advantage when Wesley jumped on a loose ball, following a blocked header from Joao Felix, and knocked in the rebound.
Just before the half-hour mark, Felix's corner kick was met by Abdulelah Al-Amri, who made it 3-0 for the hosts with a header.
On the stroke of halftime, Ronaldo's slick move set up a delicate chip into the box and Felix lifted a first-time lob over the opposing goalkeeper, extending Al Nassr's advantage to 4-0 at the break.
The visitors responded five minutes after the restart, with Ibrahim Gbadamosi pulling back a consolation goal for the Iraqi side.
Any hopes of a rally disappeared in the 56th minute, however, as Coman completed his brace to cap a flowing attack. That wrapped up the 5-1 victory, putting a bow around Al Nassr's sixth win from six games.
