Snow, romance, and flavor unite in Xinjiang's winter wonderland

02:40

In northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, winter transforms the Tianshan Tianchi Scenic Area into a magical realm where icy landscapes meet warm hospitality. This season, the destination offers a unique blend of snow adventures, romantic moments, and authentic flavors.

At 9 a.m., as the first light touches the snow-capped peaks, a new chapter of love begins. The newly opened marriage registration center at the scenic spot has become a symbol of romance, with couples exchanging vows against the majestic backdrop of the Tianshan Mountains.

The local civil affairs bureau has partnered with ten travel agencies to create a "marriage registration plus travel" experience, offering exclusive benefits such as lifetime free park entry and discounted transportation. Newlyweds Li Yazhou and Hao Juan chose Tianshan for their special day, captivated by its breathtaking beauty. "The Bogda Peak will forever witness our love," they said. "We hope our future is as beautiful as this moment."

At the same time, the scenic area's annual food festival continues to attract crowds. A giant two-meter-wide pot simmers with tender lamb, filling the air with its rich aroma. Visitors enjoy steaming lamb dishes and crispy naan bread while watching vibrant cultural performances.

One student from Xinjiang University exclaimed, "I'm so lucky to experience both the delicious food and the lively performances! Tianshan is full of warmth in winter!"

Gao Yuan, director of the Tianshan Tianchi Visitor Service Center, noted that the festival has seen a surge in visitors, with lamb being the best-selling item. "We prepared the lamb three days in advance, and guests have praised its exceptional taste," he said.

This winter, the Tianshan Scenic Area has introduced over ten new winter activities, including ice sports, snow experiences, and unique stays. Visitors can enjoy thrilling adventures set against stunning snowy landscapes, with ticket holders receiving a 15 percent discount at the Tianshan International Ski Resort.

Ju Longming, deputy director of the Fuka State-owned Forest Farm Administration, said the scenic area committed to developing into an all-round winter destination, blending romance, culture, and winter sports. "Through continuous improvement and innovative experiences, we aim to showcase Xinjiang's unique winter charm," said Ju.

From romantic ceremonies to snow-filled adventures and culinary delights, Xinjiang's winter promises unforgettable memories.
