The Fujian Coast Guard organized task forces to conduct comprehensive law enforcement patrols in the waters off Taiwan Island and the Matsu and Wuqiu Islands.

Zhu Anqing, spokesperson for the East China Sea Bureau of the China Coast Guard, said that the activities began on December 29 and were carried out to exercise the jurisdiction over the Taiwan Island and its affiliated islets in accordance with the one-China principle.
