The United States recently announced a plan to sell advanced weapons to China's Taiwan region, a move widely viewed as provocative. The arms package is valued at over $11.1 billion, exceeding the total U.S. arms sales to Taiwan during former President Biden's four-year term and setting a record for a single deal.
CGTN Stringer went to the streets of Taipei to gather local views on the issue. One Taiwan resident commented frankly that, in his opinion, Taiwan is more like a "pawn" in U.S. strategic thinking – designed to serve as a "fuse" that could spark instability across the entire East Asian region.
