The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) says the military drill around Taiwan is focused on sea-air combat readiness patrol, joint seizure of comprehensive superiority, blockade on key ports and areas, and all-dimensional deterrence outside the island chain. Cao Yanzhong, a military expert, says the exercises effectively prove that Taiwan's arms purchases are in vain.
