The ground forces of the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducted long-range live-fire drills in the waters to the north of Taiwan Island at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, said Senior Captain Li Xi, spokesperson for the PLA Eastern Theater Command.

Li said the drills achieved expected effects.
