The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Tuesday organized ground, naval, air and rocket forces to conduct simulated strikes on land and sea around Taiwan Island, as the "Justice Mission 2025" exercise entered its second day.

Destroyers, frigates, fighters and bombers are being deployed to practice exercises on identification and verification, warning and expulsion, simulated strikes, assault on maritime targets, as well as anti-air and anti-submarine operations.

The drills test sea-air coordination capabilities and integrated blockade and control, according to the theater command.

The ground forces of the theater command carried out long-range live-fire drills in the waters to the north and south of Taiwan Island.

Senior Captain Li Xi, spokesperson for the PLA Eastern Theater Command, said the drills achieved the desired effects.

As practical combat training continues to advance, China's ground forces have fully integrated a new type of long-range strike capability into their joint operations system, allowing for precise, long-range, 24/7 strikes on high-value, time-sensitive targets.

The live-fire drills serve as an effective test of the troops' island blockade and chain-cutting combat capabilities, according to the theater command.
