China has continued to embrace the world with open arms over the past year, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday in 2026 New Year message.

In 2025, China successfully held the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, while island-wide special customs operations were launched in the Free Trade Port of Hainan.

Xi added that China announced new Nationally Determined Contributions to better address climate change, and after the proposal of global initiatives on development, security and civilization, he also put forward the Global Governance Initiative to promote a more just and equitable global governance system.

"China always stands on the right side of history, and is ready to work with all countries to advance world peace and development and build a community with a shared future for humanity," Xi reiterated.
