On January 1, 2026, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was held at Golden Lotus Square in Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) to welcome the New Year. As the national anthem played, the bright five-star red Chinese national flag and the Macao SAR flag were raised, fluttering in the breeze.
