This year's Hong Kong New Year Countdown took place at the Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in Central, China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), with a brand-new format combining live performances by singers and captivating light shows.

Local singers Jay Fung and Cloud Wan performed alongside internationally renowned band Air Supply, who delivered a special set of its classic hits. A children's choir and the Hong Kong Police Band also took part, building momentum toward the countdown moment.

During the Immersive Light Show, the walls of eight iconic buildings featured projections of a giant countdown clock and seasonal patterns. As the clock struck midnight, a three-minute light performance themed "New Hope, New Beginnings" unfolded, sending blessings to on-site and global audiences as people collectively welcomed the new year.

Tens of thousands of residents and visitors gathered to welcome 2026 in a spirit of togetherness.
