The Shanghai Sharks defeated the Liaoning Flying Leopards 91 to 65 on the road on Wednesday in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), extending their winning streak to five games and moving up to second place in the standings, while Liaoning suffered a fourth consecutive loss.
The game drew added attention as former Liaoning star Zhang Zhenlin returned to his former home court wearing a Shanghai jersey. Shanghai took a 12 to 4 lead early after Zhang completed an alley-oop dunk.
Liaoning later cut the deficit to five points, but Hassan Whiteside helped Shanghai regain control with a putback basket.
Shanghai held an 18-point advantage at the end of the second quarter, and early in the third quarter, two baskets from Wang Zhelin, who scored 11 points in the game, extended the lead to 59 to 38.
Kyle Fogg, another former Liaoning player now with Shanghai, connected on a three-pointer to make it 80 to 56 for the visitors. Shanghai continued to dominate as Fogg hit another three, finishing with 12 points.
Yan Pengfei knocked down a pair of jump shots, and he and Zhang Zhenlin both finished with 16 points. Shanghai sealed a 91 to 65 victory for their fifth straight win.

In another CBA game, the Beijing Royal Fighters edged the Shenzhen Leopards 105 to 101.
Shenzhen led 42–32 four minutes into the second quarter, but Beijing rallied, and two baskets from Liao Sanning, who scored 16 points, tied the game at 53 at halftime.
The score was tied multiple times in the third quarter, and Shenzhen trailed 80 to 79 after Wang Haoran hit a three-pointer.
Grant Riller returned from injury and scored seven consecutive points with a combination of drives and jump shots to spark Beijing. He finished with a game-high 31 points as the Royal Fighters went on to secure a 105 to 101 victory.
