A new round of entry restrictions imposed by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump took effect on Thursday, applying to both immigrant and non-immigrant travelers and covering two categories: "full restrictions" and "partial restrictions."
According to a previously released White House statement, the United States has imposed full entry restrictions on nationals of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan and Syria, as well as on individuals holding travel documents issued by the Palestinian National Authority. Laos and Sierra Leone, which had previously been subject to partial restrictions, were also placed under full entry restrictions.
Meanwhile, partial entry restrictions were imposed on nationals of 15 countries: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Dominica, Gabon, The Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tonga, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
