China's Zeng Ping achieved another breakthrough at the FIS ⁠Ski Jumping ‌World ‍Cup in Oberstdorf, Germany, on Thursday, after earning the silver medal in the women's individual large hill final with 257.7 points.

Zeng, who celebrated her 21st birthday on New Year's Day, came into this event following a sixth place showing at the previous World Cup stop in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. That result had marked the highest finish ever achieved in the series by a Chinese ski jumper.

She then stayed in Germany to set a new standard in Oberstdorf. Despite strong winds in the first round, Zeng jumped 126.5 meters, scoring 122.5 points to rank ninth in the standings. The two-time Continental Cup gold medalist then soared 126.5 meters again in the second round to pick up 135.2 points, ranking second overall.

The newly-minted 21-year-old remains in position to advance to the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, as Zeng is currently the top Chinese female athlete fighting for one of four spots through Olympic qualification.

Canada's Abigail Strate won gold in Oberstdorf with 268.2 points, while Germany's Selina Freitag took bronze with 257.3 points.
