A forest musk deer, a nationally protected Class-I species, has been recorded for the first time in Baima Mountain Municipal Nature Reserve in southwest China's Chongqing. The rare animal was captured by infrared cameras and confirmed by forestry experts, marking the first documented sighting in Chongqing. Listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, the forest musk deer's presence highlights improving ecosystems and effective wildlife protection in the reserve.
