The Hukou Waterfall scenic area on the Yellow River, located on the border between Jixian County in Shanxi Province and Yichuan County in Shaanxi Province, drew large numbers of visitors during China's three-day New Year's Day break as snowfall created a striking winter spectacle.
Fresh snow blanketed the area as layers of crystal-clear icicles formed along rocky cliffs and railings on both banks of the Yellow River. Bathed in warm winter sunshine, a rainbow arched over the roaring waters, adding a vivid splash of color to the majestic icy landscape and offering visitors a memorable start to the new year.
