Large explosions were heard early on Saturday in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, accompanied by air-raid sirens. Local officials said at least 40 people, including military personnel and civilians, were killed in the US military strikes on the country.
US President Donald Trump said on the same day that the United States will run Venezuela following a military operation that captured President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who have arrived at a New York military base on Saturday.
