China supports convening an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on U.S. military strikes in Venezuela and wants the Council to play its due role, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday. Speaking at a regular press briefing on January 5, Lin described Washington's forced seizure of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife as a serious violation of international law. He urged the United States to ensure their safety, release them and resolve differences through dialogue.
