China's Vice President Han Zheng met with former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien in Beijing on Monday, highlighting efforts to promote the healthy and stable development of China-Canada relations.

Han emphasized that China and Canada share broad common interests and significant opportunities for cooperation. He added that China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Canada to foster the healthy, stable and sustainable development of bilateral relations based on equality and mutual respect.

Chrétien welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations, noting the highly complementary nature of the two economies and the broad prospects for collaboration. He expressed his willingness to continue supporting the development of a healthy and stable partnership between the two countries.
