Thousands of people took to the streets of the Venezuelan capital on Sunday to protest U.S. military action in Venezuela. The crowds called on the U.S. to immediately release President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, with many calling for peace and respect for Venezuelan sovereignty.

CGTN Stringer interviewed several people at the scene. "They annihilate us in order to take what enriches them more and makes them kings of the world; they don't care about any people," said resident Marina Gutiérrez. Another resident, Marta Zanches, strongly condemned the U.S. and demanded that it respect human rights.
