China's trade-in policy has driven consumer goods sales to reach 3.92 trillion yuan ($562 billion) and benefited 494 million consumers during the 2024-2025 period, Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping said on Tuesday at a press conference.

During the same period, China achieved the trade-in of 18.3 million vehicles, among which new energy vehicles accounted for nearly 60 percent.

The growth in consumption of new energy vehicles and smart home appliances in China has steadily expanded the scale of the green consumption market, according to Sheng.

The country's supply of green products has become more abundant, green consumption models have been constantly innovated, and the environment for green consumption has been continuously optimized, he added.

The Ministry of Commerce will work with relevant departments to enhance overall coordination, ensure the implementation of various policies and measures, promote the greening of production and lifestyle, and inject green impetus into high-quality economic and social development.
